Group A of the Jmc World Cup Serbia 2014 was the first group of the tournament. It contained host nation Serbia, Japan 2012 runner-up Portugal, Honduras and Australia. Play began on November 9th 2014 with the opening game of the tournament, Serbia playing against Australia, and concluded on April 9th 2015.
Serbia and Portugal have qualified for the next round.
Serbia and Australia opened the tournament on November 9th 2014 in Belgrade. In that game Zoran Tošić opened the scoring for the tournament by scoring a goal in the 7th minute of the match. Aleksandar Mitrović later scored again for Serbia giving them a 2-0 lead. However, within the closing minutes of the game, Joshua Kennedy scored a goal for Australia.
Portugal, the runners-up from the previous tournament in Japan, and Honduras played the second game of the group and tournament on November 15th 2014. The game nearly ended in a draw, but Miguel Veloso scored a goal for Portugal in the 80th minute and in the last minute thanks to Ruben Amorim, Portugal won the game with a 2-0 victory.
Serbia then met with Honduras in the second round of the Group Stage. Serbia increased their lead on the leaderboard by defeating Honduras with a truly stunning 5-0 victory over Honduras. Aleksandar Mitrović once again scored for Serbia in the 22nd minute of the game, followed by Dušan Tadić who scored in the 25th minute bringing their score to two points. Eventually the host nation booked a spot in the next round due to their victory and Honduras were eliminated.
Portugal met with Australia where the Portuguese once again won the game by defeating Australia 2-0, therefore securing a spot in the next round and Australia going home.
Serbia and Portugal played the first game of Round 3 of the group stage, despite both teams having been put through to the Knockout round. The game unfortunately ended in a scoreless draw which did not affect the leader board, therefore Serbia winning the group and Portugal finishing in second place. Serbia played in this match without their captain Branislav Ivanovic. The position was filled in by Dušan Basta.
The final match of this group was played by the two eliminated teams, Honduras and Australia. In this fixture, Honduras scored 3 points from Martinez, who scored two goals, and Costly. Australia scored only 1 point from Joshua Kennedy, who scored in Australia's first game against Serbia.
This group finished with Serbia winning the group and Portugal finishing in second place. Honduras finished third and Australia fourth with all three defeats.
