The jmc World Cup Japan 2012 was the 13th edition of the jmc World Cup made by JCA1009 and played on PES 2012. It was hosted by Japan. It was the second time that the tournament took place in the Asia (following South Korea in 2008) It was also the second Jmc World Cup televised by jmc TV.

Italy won the tournament beating Portugal 2-1 in the final in the Kyoto Stadium. The two European finalists meant that one of them would be the first European team to win in the Asian continent. Nigeria took third place, their best result since their victory in 2003 and Spain finishing in fourth place. Host nation Japan, 2011 champions Brazil and 2009 champions South Africa, were all eliminated in the first round. It was the third time that the host nation was eliminated in the first round (following Mexico 2007, and Nigeria 2009). Four time world champions Argentina were eliminated in the Round of 16 along with previous winners Germany. 2006 World Cup champions Holland were eliminated in the quarter finals.

The official song for the tournament was "We Can Be Brave", performed by japanese composer Issey Matsumoto.[1]

The Draw[]

The official Draw for the tournament took place on August 7 2012. It was hosted by English actor and TV host Brian Fox and Japanese actress and model Akari Tanaka. It was broadcasted live from the Tokyo Arena in Tokyo.[2]

The final was played on 07 April 2013 at the Kyoto Stadium.[3] Previously, a special concert was aired one hour before the kick-off at the arena. American singer Josh Woodward sang his hit single "Methylchloroisothiazolinone",[4] while Japanese recording artist Phrenia performed the anthem of Japan 2012 which she recorded, "Yami No Conduct".[5] Both artists were accompanied onstage by a band of people who switched instruments between each performance.

An awards ceremony was held on 26 April 2013, shortly after the conclussion of the World Cup.[6]

  • Best Player: Mario Balotelli (ITA), 6 goals.
  • Best Scoring Playmaker: Antônio Naelson Matias "Sinha" (MEX), 3 assists.
  • Best Goal: Ryoichi Maeda (JPN), in the first group match against Turkey.
